Previous boats

Until now, besides sailing on other people's boat, I owned 2 boats, both pre-owned.

The first one was an Outborn 44L, which I bought end 2001. But I changed my plans due to a very interesting offer for a boat of which I dreamt of for long time! So I sold the Outborn. It is a very nice boat which I refurbished extensively. Please check my Outborn 44L page.

The second one was a catamaran. The boat was a Catana 471 (performance catamaran with dagger boards). It was build in 1997. It served for chartering (the less bright side of the boat) in the Caribbean area. I bought the boat in 2003 and sold it beginning 2010. Here is a page with information about this Catana 471...

The boat

A friend and I recently (May-June 2010) bought a 'new' boat. It's totally different from the previous ones... It's a classic yawl (2 masts) of 1964, entirely made of wood. There is a lot of work to do to bring it back to its former glory.

The boat was designed by the famous company Sparkman & Stephens (alias S&S) in 1957-58 and was build in 1964 in Palma de Mallorca.
She was designed as an "auxiliary yawl", so it's not a racing machine... Here are some numbers:

Length over all (LOA): 14m69 (according to a measure done in 1965)
Length of waterline (LWL): 10m42 (idem)
Beam: 3m78 (idem)
Draft: 2m13 (idem)
Weight: 18.5tons (unconfirmed)
Engine: Yanmar (100HP)
Sail surface: unknown (for now..., it could be about 140m2)

Refits

I did or intend to do some refits on this boat.

The first one was a quick haul out near Barcelona (one week in 07/2010), where I did the most urgent things (see this page).

The second "stop" (2 weeks in 08/2010) was not an expected one: a part from the transmission between the engine and the propeller broke... This page tells more about it.

The next planned stop is in Vilamoura, Portugal. I intend to spend some time there (> 1 month) to do most work.
